Detroit, Mich., October 12th, 1905.

Dear Prof. Fenollosa:-

Matsuki advises me, by wire, of his arrival at Seattle during the night of October 10th, and that he would come from there directly here. So he will probably reach Detroit about next Sunday. As soon as I hear further from him stating the exact day of his arrival, I will communicate with you.

I fancy he will be here ready to show his collection about the 15th or 16th inst., and I trust that you will favor us with your presence.

Kobayashi wants me to purchase the three Sotan Kakemono and the two-fold Kenzan screen, which came after you had left Detroit. He has wired me twice concerning these specimens. And before making him a final offer I would like to have your views concerning the Sotans. Hence, I have just wired you asking if you consider the Sotans genuine specimens.

If on receipt of this letter you have not yet replied to my wired inquiry, will you kindly do so at my expense.
