Detroit, Mich., October 13th, 1905.

My dear Mr. Bixby:-
It is a pleasure to have your note of the 11th instant, and to know that you have obtained a copy of the first plate etched by Mr. Whistler. For a long time only two or three impressions of the plate were known to exist. But a few years ago a package containing a dozen or more was brought to light. Still, impressions are very rare.

I have two copies of it, and I am glad to know that you are also the possessor of one.

Hoping you are very well, and with all kind of messages, believe me,
Very sincerely yours,
Charles L Freer.
