#33 Ferry Avenue,

November 2nd, 1905.

Edward S. Rice, Esq.,
Care, First National Bank,
Marquette, Michigan.

Dear Sir:-

Your letter of October 27th came this morning and has been carefully considered. As you so thoughtfully stated, calls do come from many directions and it is difficult to answer them all.

I am convinced that what one can consistently give towards church work had better be spent within one's own state. Long ago I stopped the bad habit of contributing to the enlightenment of the "heathen" Chinese. And the economy thus effected I cheerfully distribute nearer home.

I have no doubt that Marquette, as well as Detroit, needs every dollar it can get for the worthy cause. And I beg your acceptance of my check for Fifty ($50.00) Dollars, which is sent herewith.

Very sincerely yours,
Charles L Freer

Enclosure.
