My dear Tryon:- 

On my return from Evanston this morning I found your kind letter of November 5th, and am glad to hear from you. It is a real pleasure to know that Summer and Autumn has dealt generously with you. I trust the supply of nature absorbed will keep you in good form during the coming winter.

Your willingness to join in the Philadelphia show makes the room possible, and they can now be sure of exhibits from yourself, Dewing, and Thayer. For Whistler's work, they will make an appeal to Canfield, who I think will co-operate.

I expect to be in New York some time next week. And as I must be in Philadelphia to see Mr. Eyre I will, at the same time, have a peek at the room set aside for us. By the time this happens you will have reached New York, and I shall look you up and we can chat over all the details together.

I spent yesterday afternoon and evening with Miss Watson of Evanston. And was very sorry to find that during the summer an accident had happened to your landscape which she purchased last year. You remember that she was displeased with the frame, which went to her with the picture, and that she arranged with Mr. Montrose for the return of the frame.
