Dear Montross:-

Yours of the 11th instant is received and carefully noted. I expect to be in New York either the latter part of this week or the early part of next, and will then call upon you and discuss the proposed exhibition.

Because my house has been unsettled so long and is only now, by degrees, being made livable I look upon all picture borrowers with suspicion. So do not build up mountains or expectation in this direction.
