My dear Matsuki:-

The Kakemono by Hokusai, sent to Professor Fenollosa in New York, reached there just before I left on Saturday last, and Professor Fenollosa and I had an opportunity to examine it together, and we both deemed it wise that I should bring the Kakemono with me to Detroit to compare it with the other Hokusai's in my collection.

I brought the painting with me and hope to have a chance to make the comparison within a day or two; after which you will hear further from me on the subject.

With kind regards,

Yours very sincerely,
Charles L. Freer
