Dear Mr. Ushikubo:-
Since my return from New York I have been in a great rush owing to the fact that I am unexpectedly called to Washington and only this morning had an opportunity to examine your Godoshi Kakemono with the one I bought in the [[strikethrough]] Galow [[/striketrhgouh]] Gillot sale.

The comparison proved very interesting indeed, and I am satisfied that both paintings were done by the same artist. There are a few changes in the design but these are confined to unimportant details. The colouring is slightly different, mine being richer and fuller in colour throughout. Yours is a trifle larger than mine. But on the whole they are too much alike to make it essential for me to have both paintings. So I am returning yours by American Express, charges prepaid.

Accept, please, my thanks for permitting me to make the comparison.

I hope to return from Washington by the way of New York and shall probably see you not later than Monday, the 18th instant.

With kindest regards,
Very sincerely yours,
Charles L Freer
