My dear Mr. Parsons:--
Your kind letter of the 19th instant came this morning and I hasten to reply. Yes, Mr. Putnam was very hospitable and the luncheon proved very enjoyable indeed; the only draw-back was your absence.

Now regarding the Whistler Etchings: I shall begin the work of their most careful re-inspection immediately after the first of January, when I hope to make the final weeding. I fancy, however, that less than a half dozen duplicates are likely to be thrown out. However, whatever number there may be I shall, of course, be delighted to submit to you for inspection and purchase, should they prove entirely desirable to you. The fact is, that I have weeded the Whistler prints so frequently in the past that I feel it unlikely that any considerable number of the lot now need taking away.

With all high holiday wishes, believe me,
Very sincerely yours,
Charles L. Freer
