already in my collection, so we are rejecting them for that reason.

The four kakemono by Shohaku are genuine, but do not appeal to me.

The collection of 135 sketches by Hokusai, are mixed good, bad and indifferent, and are consequently rejected.

The three screens attributed to Tosa Mitsunobu, are beautiful, in fact superb as decorations, but they were painted by later men and are not good enough for my purposes.

The Toba Sojo is a fake.

The Sesshu pair of screens are clever copies made probably by one of Sesshu's followers.

The Buddhistic kakemono attributed to the Tempio period, is also a clever copy, in fact, absolutely a tracing.

The Keishoki is all right, but to me unsympathetic.

This will give you a general idea of what we found in examining the first two shipments.

A third shipment consisting of two screens by Sotatsu, and a lot of books, are now in the Custom House, and will probably be cleared in a day or two.

I have no notice of a shipment of any prints by Kobayashi, but if any should come, I will let you know and will ask "Koby" to give you the first chance at them.
