April 22, 1868

Wright, J. Alexander
BRF&c D of Texas. W54. 1868.

Enclosed letter from the K.K. Klan addressed to WH. Moore, Dist Atty ordering him, under penalty, to arrest J.A. Wright against whom an indictment is pending. States that the charge against said J.A. Wright is false & black, as the hearts of the rebels that preferred it &c - Gives lengthy statement of the political and social condition of Texas, citing instances of barbarity and outrage practiced against the loyal whites & freedmen. -Claims that reconstruction in Texas, upon the present basis of white population cannot be successful, as the KKK's are organizing to prevent loyal people from visiting the Ballot box, whereby the Constitution will probably be defeated.
