Sir Not Haveing had any communication from Hd quarters for some 20 days I account for it by the Irregaraty of the mails, which is of frequent occurence the registration of this county stands as follows up to date whites 475 colored 219 total 694 rejected 150 with the assistance of the cavalry the citizens arrested on the night of 25 three notorous Horse thiefs a portion of a gang who had been Infesting the county for years the are now confined in jail in charge of the civil authorities although I assist in gaurding them at present 
I wrote to you a short time ago about the conduct of the detachment of 9 men of the 35th Infantry asking that the would be relieved from here at present Since I wrote the Have been doing better

John Kelly of Co. F 35th charged with Burglary, escaped from jail the 23 of this month and Has not being Heard of since He confessed his guilt to me before he Left and also
