Since their advent to this county some eight months ago, they have obtained an unenviable character for stealing stock and other property, and as there are 7 or 8 of them the neighbors are afraid of them Only last Saturday night Mr Davies ice wagon drivers camped at the widow Lee place and report that they had every thing stolen from them that was movable

I beg leave to report that having investigated this matter I have no doubt that Allick Cole and Oliver Spaulding were the murderers of Henry Clay and that Allick Cole shot Anderson Hill in two places. I believe that Allick Cole is still in the neighborhood and doubt whether Oliver Spaulding has left it. Allick Cole is likely to be found in the neighborhood of the distillery 6 miles below Hog Eye and Oliver Spaulding at the widow Lee's house or in that neighborhood. Probably neither will visit these places until the excitement of the colored people has subsided.

I beg leave to mention that Mr. Chatman has done every thing to assist us in making this investigation and deserves credit for hunting (although very unwell) for the body of Henry
