I said You said you wound not bring the steers to me for 2 dollars  They said they had a little business up that way and had brought the steers with them - They then asked if I was going to pay them for bringing the steers.  I said Gentlemen, I have no money now you promised to wait till I went to Austin.  

Then then said By God we are going to have pay. I said I had not got the money - That they could not get blood out of a turnip.  They said they could get blood out of a nigger.  I said Gentlemen if you kill me you will not then have the money.  They then said they would keep the steers.  I said if they left the steers there I would give them a dollar next Sunday.  They said they would do that.  The dark skinned man then said I never did believe a nigger in my life.  They then asked me for my saddle I told them they were Mr. Chapmans - The dark skinned man then said that he would wait on me for the money until Monday night and that if I did not bring it them he would give me some of the balls out of his pistol  Both the young men had their pistols in their hands at this time the dark one had his cocked the other one had his 1/2 cocked then we parted -
