Owing to my absence, and subsequent illness, the work on the house has gone slower than I could wish. We both hope to be able to get into our completed "studies", early in January. Mrs. Fenollosa is now considerably better, and wishes to be included in the sending of kindest regards to you. I hope you have had no re-touch of your illness in New York, and that your brother and his son have both fully recovered. Did Col. Hecker's daughter have a pleasant journey across the Atlantic?
