1. o 98% Shuneho. 2 ladies standing 100%
about 1790.
This is the only signed painting by Shuneho in his Kiyonaga manner I have ever seen. There are some in his early manner as pupil of Shuneho. He is the next greatest man to Kiyonaga, of the Kiyonaga school. The coloring is extremely rich and dark, still bearing trace of Shuneho. Compare with the Kitao Masayoshi bought from me. The absence of more patterns on the rich dresses is due to the influence of Kiyonaga in his later work. I should have grabbed this piece for my collection, if I could have seen it. I was always looking for such a piece during many years. 

2. o 97%. Toyohiro - set of 2, many figures.      98%
[[left margin]] 2775 [[/left margin]]  These are the fullest Toyohiros I have seen, and almost the finest. Nothing in Boston to compare with these. About 1798, they run parallel with Hokusai, as [[?]] with which compare. The painting of accessories is not inferior to Hokusai.
