Letter #4

Dear Mr. hecker:--

Mr. Thompson did not get around to see me until the last thing, just as I am going to the steamer. Judge Brown's interviews were had at Mr. Thompson's home; the Judge having called there twice. The details are too long for me to set forth at the last moment, and Mr. Thompson has promised to write the Senator fully to-day or to-morrow, and also to write Judge Brown giving him extracts from out forthcoming reports. Judge Brown is a stranger to Mr. Thomson, and stated that if Senator McMillian had been in Washington he would have come to New York for information. Mr. Thompson is not positive whether the rumor claimed to have been given by an employee of ours was received by the Judge in Europe, or here after his return.

Goodby,
Yours sincerely,
C L Freer

New York, Sept. 22,1894.

P. S. In exchanging my American money yesterday I calculated too closely, so this morning have made draft on you for $28. covering my hotel bill. Will you kindly pay from my funds.
