to my liking. And then commander, dear old Capt. Stoermer is one of the jolliest old sea dogs my mind can fancy. Of the passengers enough are worth knowing - so all goes well - and happily. Yesterday noon we sighted the Azores and during the whole afternoon our journeying was like a yachting cruise. Our good ship was run almost entirely around Fayal the whole length of San Georges, into the shadow of Pico and almost within speaking distance of Terceira. They added much to our trip and today I am wondering if any ocean voyage can be complete without a sunset over Terceira such as was seen from the Kaiser Wilhelm yesterday.

Among the many and touching god-sends received on board ship and before, there was a letter from Prof. Rice and such a one as only he can write. In it he said "then if you see a sunrise over Pico, you will think ocean travel a real boon." We arrived too late for the sunrise, but the sunset! Well, it was of the kind no words can describe, like colors so delicate and sounds so sweet that neither can be distinguished from the other, like touches of friendship too subtle for analysis. And speaking
