HÔTELS ROYAUX GRANDE BRETAGNE & ARNO
CHOISTRI & CHIARI
FLORENCE

le 17th Oct 1894

Dear Mr. Hecker,

The day I left Venice your letter written in New York reached me. Yes, I had read on board Steamer the changes contemplated in the New York office of the N. P. but presumed the Receivers would be glad to retain Mr. Williams in some other capacity. Truly it is sad, and seems to verify the old adage concerning soulless corporations. However, there is one bright side to the whole matter. He can live on the income, small though it is, and a year's travel with its many experiences and impressions, will drive from his mind the business cares and responsibilities of the later years of his life, and so much towards lengthening his days- May they be many and happy!!
