It's getting hot and a monsoon is kicking up its heels in the North west and soon I shall have to go. Can't tell when until I arrive in Calcutta as steamer accommodations are quite uncertain --- i.e. they depend somewhat upon the demand. Indian like --- if you nd others want me and I am ready --- all right we go --- Indian no ready --- everybody wait. There's no hurry in this blessed land and tomorrow is always better than to-day. Well, I am sorry to leave it all behind me --- not all for some parts at least will cling always---An undercurrent beating like to pulse quietly but steadily while life lasts --- and more noticeable during certain periods when our natures compel us to copy Indian tranquillity.

I am now enroute to Calcutta, from where to go to Darjeeling, then return to Calcutta and then Japanward.

Pardon this scratchy sort of letter written in a waiting room of a Ry.Station --- and accept please, my warmest regards for yourself and family --- Tranquility to one and all.

Faithfully yours

C.L.F.

Long hand.
