Whistler is at a french watering place, near Dieppe, and under the care of a physician- just recovering from influenzia [[influenza]]. I doubt very much if he will be in London during my stay.

He had sent to me from his studio here to my hotel one of the paintings bought in 1894 and I fancy the other one is still unfinished. The unfinished one is the most important but I shall probably have to wait still longer for it. I dont [[don't]] mind the waiting so much if I were only sure that in the event of Whistlers unlooked for death nothing would occur to the picture contrary to my interest.

There are plenty of Americans in London now including a few Detroiters- Will Harren, Gilbert McMillan, Frank Walker and young [[strikethrough]] Thom [[/strikethrough]] Wetmore.

Tom and I are both well and will soon seperate [[separate]] as he leaves me on the 3rd August.

I shall feel lost without him but as I will have much to do between the date of his sailing and that of my own I will have no time to get lonesome. With best regards

Yours faithfully
