Sept 8th 1900.....2.

The garden is even finer than Tom's description of it, and with about one year's careful attention it will be truly beautiful - even in its present condition it is the largest little garden I know. And to balance up the surroundings architecturally from a landscape point of view, and above all with the prince of good fellows, Freddie Mann has bought an adjoining house which can be connected with our house and garden.

You would be delighted to see Tom! I never saw him in such perfect condition both mentally and physically. He is in love with his life here and I think absence of friends is his only regret. He joins me in love to yourself and family.

Faithfully yours
Freer.

Long hand.
