Dampfer "Hohenzollern"
May 30th 1901.

My dear Colonel-

In matters of comfort and charm, this trip thus far, has been a duplicate of last year. The ship, as usual, clean and steady, the ocean and sea calm and attractive, - the crowd orderly and agreeable.

We passed Pico and San Jorge before daylight but had a remarkably fine view of St Michaels, taking in the entire length of the island.

Gibraltar is as attractive as ever - and I never saw the Spanish and African coasts to better advantage.

We expect to pass in sight of Sardinia this afternoon and to go ashore at Naples early tomorrow evening.

There are quite a number of my acquaintances on board including Jeanne, who is enroute to Paris, where she expects to spend some time in preparing her lectures for next winter's delivery.

I hope that Anna has entirely regained her health and that you and the balance of your family are very well.

Faithfully
Freer.

Kindest regards to all.
Long hand.
