Dear Colonel-

I have your full and interesting letter of June 4th and am glad to hear from you.

It gives me much pleasure to know that Potter will accept Vice Presidency of the State Savings Bank at so early a [[strikethrough]] n [[/strikethrough]] day. He is decidedly the best man for the place, being able, competent, experienced and of such charming manners and broad views.  Both he and the bank will be gainers.

I hope that the illness of George Russel proved temporary
