GRAND HOTEL
PARIS

12 Boulevard des Capucines
le June 28th, 1903

My dear Colonel:-

I made draft yesterday on my letter of credit for £800 to pay Bing the amount I wrote you about a day or two ago. This makes total drawn to date £2,550. I hope to draw less heavily hereafter, but I have secured some fine things.

I called upon Mr. and Mrs. Hutchins yesterday and found them happily enjoying a few days' visit here prior to going to Aix.

Tomorrow morning, I go to London.

My stay here has been very charming as well as instructive --- the French collectors are a fine lot of men and have beautiful things.

The Gillot collection contains some of the most beautiful Japanese things I have ever seen.

When I see you next, I will tell you an extraordinary circumstance in connection with my acquaintance with Mr. Koechlin, the foremost collector of Oriental art in Paris. It will amuse you greatly. The French Government has offered him the position of Director of Fine Arts to the St. Louis Exposition but as yet he has not accepted - I hope he will.

It is a lovely sunny morning and I will shorten my note so as to get to the Louvre ahead of the crowd.

With best wishes to all

Yours faithfully
Charles L. Freer

Long hand.
