Judge and Mrs. Brown left Assouan for down river points, they day of our arrival there, but we did not see them. They are reported as being well. Mrs. Duffield's death must have been a shock to the judge.

Mr. Gillett's friends should be thankful. He enjoyed life and was fortunate in leaving it in so painless a manner.

If I can secure passage I shall said from Suez on a N.D.L. steamer for Colombo on Jany. 21st but accommodations as yet are uncertain.
