no positive reply to my application. If I fail to get what I want to on her I shall try for something comforTable on the Hamburg American steamer sailing February 3rd. The travel to India this year is very heavy and space on several of the leading ships is reserved till March. However, at the last minute, one generally secures something fairly good. Dr. Mann has not yet determined whether or not to go with me to Ceylon. In any event my stay there will not exceed two weeks. And

from Colombo I shall go to Java via 
Singapore.

Egypt continues to delight us and we are charmed with our glimpses of Nubia & Soudan. 

We left Assouan last night on the "Mayflower" the same steamer we took from Luxor to Assouan, and are due to reach Luxor on our return tonight. The Hamburg and the Anglo-American steamers are new and very comfortable they are giving the Cooks a pace for patronage and are certainly making their guests very content. It is most comforting to know from your last cable of Anna's improvement and I am hoping that she will soon be able and strong again.  With best wishes to her and all,    Always
