Dear Dewing:-

Stephen left for the East last night and I will be in New York Saturday, Sunday, Monday and a part of Tuesday next. He will stop at the Prince George Hotel in Twenty-seventh Street, and I have told him to call upon you and to have his first sight of a real studio. If he comes, I hope you will let him have a view of your "factory". It will amuse him to see how things are made.

This morning's mail brings a letter from Mr. McGuire, Director of the Corcoran Gallery of Washington, requesting me to loan the portrait of Elizabeth, and one each of the works of Thayer and Tryon. I enclose a copy of the letter for your perusal. What action should I take? I shall not answer McGuire until I hear from you.
