Dear Mr. Mayer:-

Permit me the pleasure of introducing to you my friend Mr. Bunschichi Kobayashi, of Tokio, Japan. 

Mr. Kobayashi is the leading dealer in his native country in books and colour prints of the Ukioye School, and visits America annually and during recent years he has brought to this country many magnificent specimens of Japanese art. This year he has decided to visit London, Paris, Berlin and Hamburg, and I have advised him to make your acquaintance and to show you some of his fine colour prints. I am sure you will recognize their beauty, and it has occurred to me that perhaps you would like to make an exhibition of some of his prints in your gallery. However, I have not even suggested this matter to Mr. Kobayashi as yet, but I shall write him a note suggesting the scheme. I do not even know if the plan would be agreeable to either
