Do you mind telling me from what source you obtained the Murano "Glass Furnace"? I ask it for a special reason, namely; Mr. Howard Mansfield has solicited me many times to obtain a copy of this plate for him should an opportunity ever offer, hence my correspondence with you on the subject. On receipt of the print I offered it to him, but he declined to buy it, giving as an excuse that the price was too high. Of course, I am entirely willing to keep the print for myself or can very easily, some time in the future, dispose of it to some friend who will doubtless want it. I am not sure that the price was the reason for Mr. Mansfield's refusal and am wondering if he did not really expect to get the proof from the King's collection. This matter I wish you would treat as confidential, but I want you to know the facts.
