too, that Mr. Ushikubo and his friend are most charmingly quiet people, and I am sure they would mix perfectly.

I am sorry that I cannot state positively how much time I shall have in New York before sailing. I think, however, I shall leave here on the evening of Monday, November twelfth, going direct to New York. I may have to go to Philadelphia on Tuesday and return to New York early Wednesday morning. In any event I shall be in New York all of Wednesday, the fourteenth instant, and all of the forenoon of Thursday, the fifteenth instant. My steamer, the "Hamburg" sails from Weehawken at three o'clock on Thursday afternoon, the fifteenth instant. It will, I am sure, be impossible for me to go to New Haven, but if you can not stop here on your way to New York I would be very glad to see you in the latter city on either Wednesday, the fourteenth, or during the forenoon of Thursday the fifteenth. Wednesday would be much better as, naturally, the day of sailing is always sure to be more or less broken, so I do hope you will think seriously over my suggestion and decide to stop off here at least for a day on your way East.
