include somewhere between one hundred and one hundred and twenty-five guests. The annual reports will be read and Doctor Angell and Professor Kelsey, both of Ann Arbor, will make short addresses to the Club. Would you enjoy being present? I am sure you would be heartily welcome if you can come. I spoke of the matter to the President of the Society yesterday and he urged me to urge you to be present and he said he would be particularly pleased if you would give a ten minutes talk as an introduction to the relation that Whistler's art bears to that of the Orient, and also express your views of the decorations in the Peacock Room and the pottery contained therein. The scheme is to admit the visitors to the house and eventually gathering all in the gallery where the meeting will be held. After the meeting the guests will all go to the Peacock Room and from there through a covered passage out of doors, through the garden, and to the main floor of the house again where at ten o'clock in the evening, refreshments will be served. I am sure that if you feel well enough to endure the journey here, and would give say, a ten minutes talk, you will give great pleasure to the members of the Society and,of course, will delight me. You could leave New York at four thirty on Tuesday evening, arriving here on Wednesday morning: leave Detroit at three forty Friday afternoon and be back in
