I have acknowledged the receipt of numbers 88, 89 and 90. There was also received by Registered Mail, a small box, (sealed, but seals partially broken) from Miss Strong, Philadelphia, with the request to forward it to you. I have acknowledged the receipt of the box, stating that I had forwarded it to you, which I am doing by Registered Post under separate cover. There have also been received three books ordered sometime ago from Karl W. Hiersemann, Leipzig, and one book "Autobiography of Franklin" ordered from Houghton,Mifflin & Co.

The "Life of Lafcadio Hearn" has come in, and I have sent a copy of it to Mrs. Alfred Chapman, as you requested before leaving, and have advised Mrs. Chapman of the shipment thereof.

A casecontaining twelve pieces of pottery shipped by Weston from Yokohama to Mr. Allison, with instructions to deliver to H. P. Yamamoto, care you, has been received. My assumption is that this is the Mayeda shipment. I have heard
