The work of the year and other matters have kept me closely at home for a much longer period than usual, and I am beginning to feel the necessity of a change of air. In fact, I am longing to get back near to the equator again, and I am now planning to leave Detroit about the middle of November and go via Naples direct to Cairo, spend a few weeks in Egypt, then go to Ceylon for a short stay, thence to Java, returning to America either next Spring or Summer. There is a possibility of my going from New York via Liverpool, London and Paris to Naples, but all this will depend upon my strength and the class of accommodations to be had. Should I go via England my stay in London will not exceed two or three days, and in Paris about the same amount of time will be spent; my aim being to get to Egypt a little ahead of the season so as to avoid the crowd. In my absence the Trust Company will continue to care for your securities the same as in the past and I will arrange for the investment of the interest on the bonds, unless, perhaps, you would prefer to have some other steps taken. You will remember that as the matter now stands everything is in your name at the Trust Company and you can give to them any directions you please at any time and they will be obeyed. I name this simply to free you from
