I appreciate greatly, your kindly thought in sending me from Cairo, the Postal Card containing Christmas and New Year's greeting, also the wishes conveyed through Colonel Hecker for myself, George and Charlie, which, you may feel sure, are heartily reciprocated. 

I have acknowledgements from Kingston and Minnie and Alice, (both of whom are in Canada) of the receipt of your Christmas Gifts, for which they wish me to express to you their thanks, likewise Stephen, and through him, the Postman and the Scrubwoman.
