My dear Sir:-
I have forwarded you a letter written by Mr. Freer from Naples, approving the design for the grilles for the Blue Room door and windows opening toward the garden, and authorizing you to proceed with the work, preferring that you place the contract in Philadelphia, so that the work may be done under your personal supervision.

Mr. Freer also wrote me of the matter, and requested that the measurements of the drawings be verified with the openings, before returning the drawings to you. This has been carefully done, and I believe are all right.

Mr. Freer, thinking that the larger and thicker stones might serve much better as anchors for the hinges than where the hinges are shown, suggested that I have a rough sketch made of the stone work surrounding the openings, that you may be able the better to locate the hinges in the most secure places. Accordingly, you will find enclosed herein, a drawing showing the thickness and length of each stone at each side of the three openings, which drawing also shows the height and width of the openings. The latter measurements are made between the chiseled corners of the stones.

The window detail shows at the hinges, a strap fastened by three screws, running back of the stones. Is it your intention to remove
