Detroit, Michigan,
January 12th, 1907,

Mr. Robert Dunthorne,
5 Vigo St., London, W.

Dear Sir:
The three reproductions of Mr. Whistler's "Miss. Alexander", shipped by you on the 17th ult. to Mr. Charles L. Freer, have been received; and I regret to say that when received, two of them were found torn at the outer edge of the impression of the picture on the mat. The roll was opened by the Customs officials at New York, and they certify that one of these breaks was found upon opening. It would seem that the pictures, because of their size, were too tightly rolled for shipment. The pictures themselves, however, are not at all damaged, being only cracked at the edge of the impression.

Enclosed herewith, I take pleasure in handing you a draft on London to your order for £ 18-18-0, in settlement of the invoice.

Kindly receipt the voucher also enclosed herein, and return it to me at your early convenience, and greatly oblige,

Very truly yours,
JM Kennedy
