with your card to the funeral of General Alger.

Some days ago, Mr. Hatashita called to talk with Colonel Hecker about the new Paper Company which has started at Capac, Michigan. He stated that before you went away, you suggested that after the first of the year, he call on Colonel Hecker, who, after that time, could give him information as to the men connected with that concern. Colonel Hecker said that you did not say anything to him about it, but he remembers getting a report from Dunn's on the Pilgrim Paper Company and handing it to you. I have obtained another report on the Company, and am enclosing it to you, herewith. I looked on your desk thinking that I might find an envelope containing some information, as Hatashita said he thought you talked with some one down stairs in this building about the Company. At his suggestion, I am writing you thinking you may have some information in your mind about the Company. Hatashita said you suggested his offering to sell the Company his process for manufacturing paper in consideration of an amount of stock therein.

Very respectfully yours,
