In the absence of Mr. Charles L. Freer, I beg to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 5th inst, addressed to him, and take pleasure in advising you that Mrs. Dewing's painting reached Mr. Freer's residence yesterday afternoon in good condition.
Mr. Freer is still traveling about in the Orient,and,as I am writing him to-day, I shall take pleasure in enclosing therewith, your letter.
