paintings belonging to Kobayashi. I have felt from the first with you that the three "Tekuma" were not important. The coloring is attractive but the drawing is decidedly lacking in interest. The so-called Kawanari has very much more to recommend it, notwithstanding it's wrecked condition.

I am now expecting to be in New York the latter part of next week and shall bring the Kawanari painting with me in order to show it to you. I imagine the price will be far in excess of its real value, but before taking further steps I should like very much to have your opinion of the picture.

I am sorry that your attack of bronchitis should prove so troublesome, and I hope you are taking the best of care of yourself. Don't try to do too much with the photographs until your strength returns. I know from experience what it is to have a troublesome throat. I have suffered with throat difficulties for years and I believe that some of the most serious illnesses I have had originated from what at first seemed rather slight disorders of the throat. Do be careful!

With all good wishes, believe me,

Very sincerely yours,
Charles L Freer
