Gustavus Goward, Esq.
No. 132 Rush St., Corner Erie, Chicago, Ills.

My dear Goward:-

Your letter of October 4th was forwarded to me and my return home this morning brings the first opportunity to reply.

I am planning to be in Detroit until November 12th., when I shall leave for the winter. In the meantime, if you are coming this way I would be pleased to see you and would then discuss with you the matter mentioned in your letter. I can add, however, that my present collecting of Japanese and Chinese paintings is confined strictly to the early masters, Buddhistic, Tosa and very early Kano. You will pardon me for mentioning these details, but I deemed it proper to let you know the direction in which my work is now being pushed.

Believe me, with kind regards,

Yours very truly,
Charles L. Freer
