Dear Dr. Haverkamp-Begemann:

When I had the pleasure of your visit on October 3rd, you told me that you would have further opportunities of coming to New York - and your absence has been very much noticed - all the more as Mrs. Seligman and I would like to have,at home, the pleasure of Mrs. Begemann's and your company.

Let me reassure you by saying that these lines are in no way related to the painting attributed to Bellange of the "Beggar" - for it is no longer in my possession having been acquired by a private collector.

Not having heard from Dr. Ebbinge-Wubben, I took for granted that he was not interested in it and thus felt free in this respect to release it. In this connection, however, I would be obliged to you, if in the course of one of your next letters to him you could ask him to be good enough to return the transparency and photographs you forwarded to him, at the time.

Be this as it may, do let me hear from you whether you have set a date for your next visit to our city.

Meanwhile, with all my best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and with personal regards,

Sincerely yours,

Germain Seligman
