OBERLIN COLLEGE
OBERLIN, OHIO

OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT

December 29, 1965

To Oberlin Alumni and Friends:

I am pleased to send you a copy of the news release announcing plans to merge the Oberlin College Graduate School of Theology with the Vanderbilt University Divinity School. We believe that the court approval necessary for the transfer of endowment funds from Oberlin to Vanderbilt will be obtained without undue delay. Meanwhile we shall be cooperating with faculty members and students as they anticipate their move to Nashville.

The decision made by the Oberlin Board of Trustees last June to discontinue graduate instruction in theology at Oberlin was an exceedingly difficult one. We are pleased that our efforts to preserve the historic Oberlin tradition in theological studies in a new university setting have been resolved in such a satisfying way.

Sincerely,
Robert K. Carr
Robert K. Carr,
President.
