Dear Mr. McIlhenny:

I have just returned to New York and found your letter of April 23rd awaiting me, and I can assure you that I very much appreciate the sentiment expressed in your letter regarding the position we have taken in reference to our contemplated Degas Exhibition.

Now since I wrote you I have heard that the monotype pastel, "Café Scene" has been recently sold in Europe, but we will be only too pleased to lend you the "Portrait of Diego Martelli", provided, of course, it has not been sold in the meanwhile.

By-the-by, did you get in to see Mr. Winthrop? If not, I am looking forward to the pleasure of going up there with you.

In the meanwhile, with my kindest regards,

Believe me to be,

Yours sincerely,

(Clyfford Trevor)
