great I would not undergo if but for my desire to study and compare the piece with Chinese & Japan printing & sculpture, I now think it surpasses either, but I am not sure. Study alone can finally convince me.

The Egyptian museum authorities have passed the shipment containing the stone head and bush and it is now on its way to the steamer. Cases A & B being “Personal Effects” books, fragments &c, of no artistic value need no inspection here and will start for the steamer tomorrow.

I am negotiating for an old

wooden figure in an old rickety shrine and shall probably buy it before sailing on the 21st inst.

If I get it shipment will have to follow in another case which I shall have marked D. Mr Caffri the shipping agt. seems to understand packing and forwarding very well and as he is the agent of the U.S. Express here I shall have all details old figure and its shrine to him and my dragomans - the cost of the figure and shrine will be somewhere about L25 or L30. It’s another specimen of early sculpture and painting for study. In opening case B please tell the opener not to ram his chisel under the cover as it may cut into Migeon's or Fourquet's books both of which are presents and as such I value them highly. -
