school, and the people would get the land, and build the houses according to a plan furnished from this office, with the assistance of $200, you would give that amount and sometimes more, will cause the erection of several more houses this season. I have no doubt.
At most of the important points of your Counties in Maryland, and in parts of West Virginia, where the Colored people mostly live. I have been with yourself and made this offer to the people, and urged the importance of their being educated. 
The meetings held in Calvert, Charles and St. Marys Counties Md. in connections with Judge Bond and others of Baltimore, have certainly accomplished much good; so also have the meetings in other parts of Maryland and West Virginia. Always as you well know, the remarks upon Industry, Economy, Honesty, Temperance, and the advantage of an education, and the way in which it could be obtained, and the success of those already attending school in Washington and other places, have been weel received by Whites as well as Blacks.
