119 [[symbol checkmark]] Detroit, Michigan. 33 Ferry Avenue. November 29th, 1907. Dear Madam: - Earlier reply to your courteous letter of November 24th, has been prevented by my absence. In reply, I must say that it has been my practice to refuse to consent to written descriptions of my Collection. However, I did make two exceptions; once, in favor of the Century Magazine; and recently, for the Pacific Era; both of which articles I presume you are familiar with. Now - regarding your request, I can only say that I should be very much influenced in the matter, by the wishes of the officers of the Smithsonian Institution, along with certain other conditions, which I do not care to mention in a letter. Should you deem the matter of sufficient importance to warrant you in calling on me, while en route to Washington, I shall be pleased to discuss the matter fully with you. Believe me, Very sincerely yours, Charles L Freer Catherine Cook, Editor "The Sketch Book", 412 Fine Arts Building, Chicago.
