Dear Sir:--

I have your letter of January 3rd enclosing your letter of apology to Miss Birnie-Philip. I have read the same with interest and have noted carefully your explanations set forth in the letter addressed to me. I shall write Miss Birnie-Philip today, enclosing your letter to me, and shall ask her to accept the apology and release you from further responsibility in connection with the edition of the "Ten O'clock" which you so unfortunately published.

I am inclined to think she will overlook the matter after receiving your letter of apology, and after the copies of the "Ten O'clock" now in your possession shall have been delivered into my hands for destruction and that she will not under any circumstances permit the edition to be circulated. In the meantime you must continue your efforts to recover the copies already sold.
