Dear Professor Kelsey:-
Your kind letter of January 10th is received and appreciated. I know of nothing new to prevent my attending the meeting proposed for the evening of Tuesday, January 28th, but in these busy times, it is almost impossible to speak with certainty. You can, however, depend upon my attending the meeting unless some unforeseen difficulty prevents.

Following your thought, I have already written to an acquaintance in Cairo asking him to collect further evidence if possible, concerning the place from which the Biblical Manuscripts came, and to keep me advised of future discoveries, and in fact, generally keeping an eye out to whatever he can discover.

In accordance with your wishes, I have examined the copy of the resolution approved by the Council of the Archaeological Institute Of America concerning the care of its funds. So far as I can see, it covers the ground completely, but why have so large a number of Committeemen? It seems to me three men would be better than seven. I fear with small a sum, you would find it difficult get [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] seven first-class men willing to give attention to the matter.
