A. H. GRIFFITH, Esq.,
Director-Detroit Museum of Art,
Detroit, Michigan.

MY DEAR MR. GRIFFITH:
I am glad to learn from your kind letter of February fifth that liberal subscriptions are being received for the Picture Fund. I know the times are very hard, but I trust a sufficient amount will be obtained this year to make it possible to buy a masterpiece. Do insist upon buying only a thoroughly worthy example.

Yes, I know the little water color by Church is still in your possession. I have left it with you at the request of some of our mutual friends who are interested in seeing the picture on public exhibition. I think, however, it has now been thoroughly seen, and within a day or two I will send my man for it. He will present a card, requesting delivery.

Trusting you are keeping very well, I remain,
Sincerely yours,
Charles L Freer
