My Dear Mr. Masuda:-

Since my letter to you of I have had the pleasure of meeting President Roosevelt at Washington. I was called there on other business and took advantage of the excellent opportunity to discuss with him the proposed exhibition of Oriental art, to which you are giving so much of your valuable time and co-operation.

Mr. Roosevelt approves highly of the exhibition, and kindly consented to act as one of the honorary committee. He also generously consented to allow the use of the names of Secretary of the State Root, and Secretary of War Taft to the same committee. This news I know will be very welcome to yourself and your Japanese friends who have so kindly agreed to loan objects from their collections. 

Here we believe this interesting action of the President will give great force to the committee-men who have the responsibilities to assume and the work to do. It will also add enormously to the attendance wherever the exhibitions in America may be given.
